What Is The Best Boat Storage Shed?

Want to know what is the best boat storage shelter for your needs? Well, I’ve got the answer for you.

I’ve done a lot of research on the topic and whether it’s because it seems like winter is always around the corner or just that you won’t be able to use it for one reason or another, you are definitely going to want to safely stow away your watercraft.

So what is the best kind of storage for your boat?

A good portable shelter or garage is an excellent option for most people. Using a marina is always more expensive than the alternatives.

But if you take the time to take the boat out of the water and get it back to your property, you definitely have to think about keeping it out of the elements.

Why A Portable Boat Storage Shelter?

If you plan on keeping your boat in the garage, it will just take away from storage space for other necessities. If you’re keeping it in your yard or driveway, the boat may become more of an eyesore than anything. It will also be exposed to the elements, which can create a bunch of expensive boat repairs down the road.

Ever have mice get into the wiring on your boat? I have and it’s not something I want to re-live.

Before picking the best option for protecting your own boat, there are a few things that you’ll want to take into consideration.

Size Matters

Yes! It actually does. Especially when it comes to buying protection…………..

Ok, all joking aside, you’ll need a boat shelter that is going to fit the length, width and height of your boat on it’s trailer.

Since every boat is different in size, you will really have to compare for yourself and figure out which one will work the best.

Another factor that should play into which specific portable boat shelter you end up going with is the climate in which you live. Many shelters do not last long under the heavy weight of snow.

For example, where I live in New England you can get a few feet of snow. So unless you want to have to clear off the snow after every storm, you will probably want to look at something a little more sturdy.

Cost is a factor in anything, including portable boat shelters. Typically portable boat shelters can range in price from $1000 all the way up to thousands of dollars for the largest in size.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t usually want to cheap out. But I’m not always about going with the most expensive option either.

So I’ve researched all of the different options out there and found the one that is the biggest bang for the buck.

I’m a pretty big fan of Rhino Shelter. You’ll find that out after reading more articles on this site.

Rhino 14x24x10 Mariner Storage Shed

They’re Rhino 14x24x10 Mariner Storage Shed is the best option I have found bar none.

This round shelter provides superior protection, and there’s no loss of portability.

As far as storage space is concerned, the shelter is ideal for most standard sized boats. The assembly of this portable garage for your boat is seamless. It only takes two people about an hour to assemble this shelter with very little effort honestly.

The frame of the garage is well made and doesn’t require any cutting or drilling to assemble. I was rather impressed by that! I bought two other shelters prior to this one and both of them had instructions that were either impossible to figure out or needed further assembly than the instructions gave.

As with everything Rhino Shelter, this is made using rugged and long-lasting industrial grade 10oz. fabric and is available in two distinct colors.

The entire cover, including doors, are constructed with a CPAI-84 rated Poly with woven backing, which is UV resistant and fire retardant.

The outer and inner layers sandwich a special layer in between called “Inner Black Scrim”. Which is great, because zero sunlight gets through this thing. All the components for the frame are manufactured using galvanized steel as well. So you can be sure that you are getting one of the strongest shelters on the market.

All Rhino Shelters come with ratchet straps, which is something you would have to buy anyway to secure it. The shelter cover never loosens or sags, thanks to the strong webbing material used in the ratchet strap.

This can withstand much higher snow loads than your ordinary shelter as well because of the tightness created by the ratchet straps. The doors have a pouch to accommodate a pole and the grommets. It also comes with cable earth anchors and 36″ drive rod.

Heck, I’m surprised they didn’t include a kitchen sink with this thing!

Other Portable Boat Shed Options?

Rhino Shelter Barn Style Building

Yes, there are other options, but none that I would take very seriously with the exception of the Rhino Shelter 12’W X 24’L X 8’H, which is technically more for a one car garage or bikes.

But it will do if you want to save yourself a few hundred dollars. This offers the same protection without the space to move around on the outside. The round-style roof prevents water logging or snow build-up.

There are a lot of companies out there making portable shelters and garages. More popping up every week it seems. But in my experience, if you are buying a boat storage shelter, then Rhino Shelter makes the best quality you can find and again, they are really easy to put together.
